Student Placements

The Institute for Family Health is committed to fostering the development of future health professionals by creating engaging opportunities for current healthcare students. Students at the Institute have the chance to get an in-depth look at how community health centers function and to learn about future healthcare careers. Students can be placed in various departments, from community outreach to program development, depending on their experience and interests.

The Institute for Family Health also serves as the New York Metropolitan Regional Office for the NYS AHEC System. AHEC makes sure that young people from underrepresented groups have opportunities to learn about the health professions, and obtain education and training to pursue careers in healthcare. AHEC also provides health professionals with opportunities to learn about caring for vulnerable groups and promotes careers in underserved communities.

Students interested in a placement at the Institute should send a copy of their resume along with a brief statement with their specific interests and availability to:

  • Dorothy Muccio at dmuccio [at] institute2000.org for social work/behavioral health placements
  • Nicki Fietzer at nfietzer [at] institute2000.org for all other placements

Students interested in careers in health care can gain experience at the Institute for Family Health.
