Beth Israel Residency in Urban Family Practice

The Beth Israel Residency in Urban Family Practice is a collaboration between the Institute for Family Health and Beth Israel Medical Center’s Alfred and Gail Engelberg Department of Family Medicine.  The residency program was initiated in 1994 and graduated its first class of family physicians in 1997. Currently, the program has 8 PGY1s, 8 PGY2s, and 9 PGY3s.  The residency emphasizes the particular needs of medically underserved communities and teaches a collaborative, patient and family centered approach to health care. The program has graduated 126 family physicians, the majority of whom continue to practice in underserved communities.
