The Institute’s Charmaine Ruddock is Named Chair of the Board of Directors of the National REACH Coalition

Washington, DC (October 23, 2014) – Charmaine Ruddock, MS, project director for the Institute’s Bronx Health REACH program, has been elected chair of the Board of Directors of the National REACH Coalition (NRC). The NRC leads a network of community-based organizations committed to the achievement of health equity among ethnic and racial minorities. The NRC was founded in 2004 as a unified entity of grantees of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) program. The NRC’s mission is to increase the capacity and social capital of underserved racial and ethnic communities across the U.S. to achieve health equity. The Institute’s Bronx Health REACH program is one of its founding members.

The Institute’s Virna Little Receives the Paul Ramos Memorial Award at the CHCANYS Annual Statewide Conference

Virna Little, PsyD, LCSW-R, SAP, the Institute’s senior vice president of psychosocial services and community affairs, received the Paul Ramos Memorial Award at the Community Health Care Association of New York State’s (CHCANYS) annual conference and clinical forum on October 20, 2014.

Drs. Arash and Kamiar Alaei Present Grand Rounds on November 14th

Arash Alaei, MD and Kamiar Alaei, MD, DrPH will present the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health’s November Grand Rounds. Their presentation, entitled, “The Human Rights-Based Approach to Health for People Living with HIV/AIDS in Iran,” will discuss community based approaches for HIV/AIDS prevention and care in Iran, triangular clinics that integrate HIV/AIDS, STI, and addiction programs, and other best practices.
