I have long been involved in working with corporate and not-for-profit organizations committed to community building and economic development. I was also the Executive Director of a community based organization, where I built a health practice. Since 1993, I have been actively involved in developing a faith-based initiative with 7 churches – focusing primarily on diabetes prevention and maintenance, nutrition, and fitness. The churches have been instrumental in raising the issues and challenges of health disparities with community leaders and elected officials. Becoming a member of BHR fits right in with our program agenda, and since we share the common goal of making health equality a reality, we have benefited from this great collaboration.
